Working out of a small studio in the San Francisco Flower Market, Jonathan and Linnae Asiel founded Asiel Design the premiere wedding and special event designers in 2002. As their creativity and professionalism became recognized throughout the floral design and special events world, Asiel Design’s quaint beginnings quickly grew and a “Willy Wonka Factory” for event design was born. A 10,000 square foot structure in San Jose, which Jonathan and Linnae affectionately call the Warehouse became their home. The Warehouse still remains the headquarters for ASIEL DESIGN today.
ASIEL DESIGN has been involved in over 700 weddings and special events since the company’s conception. Their experience working throughout California is diverse, since they began in Northern California with a focus on San Jose and the San Francisco Bay Area, in addition to creating a satellite studio in Los Angeles. Today, Asiel Design’s focus is primarily on Northern California, yet many clients still reach out to them from various locations such as Los Angeles and New York. These are clients who are looking to have a destination wedding at one of the top Northern California wedding venues or would like to have a special event in the San Francisco Bay Area and wish to rely on Asiel Design’s experience in event design.
ASIEL DESIGN is small enough to have a HEART AND SOUL yet large enough to TRANSFORM THE SPACE of some of the most renowned wedding venues and special events spaces throughout California. Asiel Design will dazzle you with ideas that are anything but ordinary and they will CREATE A TAILORED AND MEMORABLE EVENT for each client.
[Question]: So, what makes Asiel Design such a powerhouse event design company?
[Answer]: PARTNERSHIP, FAMILY & INNOVATION.
“Being a husband and wife team, there is a balanced approach to our design – masculine and feminine elements represented. Both are beautiful and powerful. It’s a company where men and women can appreciate what we do because we are not one sided – the male ascetic has a voice here.” Says Linnae.
As the event design world has developed and evolved, the demand for a more DYNAMIC DESIGN WHICH REALLY SPEAKS TO BOTH MEN & WOMEN has emerged; pair this reality with two incredible artists and it is easy to see how Jonathan and Linnae make Asiel Design uniquely desirable.
“Events have souls and the design element is the body. You literally interact with, communicate with and experience our events when you walk into them. That’s why we create ‘Design That Evokes Emotion,” Says Jonathan
Going this route enables Asiel Design to think more freely and to create looks that have not yet been explored in the event design world. Styles and wedding themes like STEAMPUNK and GOTHIC are among our most trendsetting wedding themes right now; while VINTAGE and RUSTIC themes remain tried and true. ASIEL Design is also a leader in sustainable floral design options as they are always tinkering with new ways to rethink and reuse design elements that are responsible with resources and not wasteful.
In addition to the unique team that Jonathan and Linnae make as wedding and special event designers, they have also built a powerful network of wedding coordinators, wedding consultants, event planners, and floral designers to ensure that every client’s needs are met within their budget.
ASIEL DESIGN is always dreaming, creating and looking ahead to see what’s new on the horizon. Contact them today to see how they can make your vision a reality.

“I believe that an event is more than something you look at,
it’s something that you walk into – to feel, touch and smell- it’s an experience.
That’s what we create. Design that evokes emotion.”

Co-owner and principal event designer at Asiel Design, Jonathan’s passions and specialties are found in creating dramatic design ascetics, cultivating the wedding venue or special event space, and the overall event experience. His ability to “see” the vision of what an event can be and incorporate a rich backdrop of art and décor, makes Jonathan Asiel a coveted and forward thinking designer. It is also for these reasons that Jonathan’s reputation in the San Jose and San Francisco Bay Area has set a new standard for wedding planners and event designers in California.
Having grown up in the event design world, Jonathan spent his childhood working with his father who is a broker of Ecuadorian Roses. This unique background combined with Jonathan’s natural gifts and talents are responsible for an
INTUITIVE SENSE of new trends in floral design and memorable event experiences. Growing up in the flower industry has also made Jonathan passionate about sustainable floral design options, which he has been able to incorporate into his company’s design aesthetic for both wedding flower arrangements and special events. In addition to his specialized background, Jonathan also holds a bachelors degree in leadership, which he has used to develop a strong network of wedding coordinators, wedding consultants and special event designers. His skills, knowledge and experiences all contribute to the various business aspects of Asiel Design.
“The most captivating way to bring new trends to the event world is to create something entirely authentic to who you are as a designer.” says Jonathan.
Because of this key element, one of his specialties is DESIGNING ONE-OF-A-KIND and inspiring design elements unique to the wedding venue or special event space. A few examples include his wrought iron designs; unique candelabras, ornate archways and lavish Lion stands which all echo old European design and style. Jonathan was also an antique dealer, (well versed in antiquities), which he also brings to Asiel Design’s event inventory.
Because of their unique and magical events, Jonathan and Linnae were honorably requested to become the STYLE & TREND DIRECTORS for Today’s Bride Magazine for the San Jose and San Francisco Bay Area. They accepted the opportunity and now continue to scout the best design talent in the San Francisco Bay Area and create new design trends throughout the wedding and special event industry. Jonathan is always reaching ahead to bring innovative ideas to the event world or wedding venue and his fingerprints can be found all through the San Jose and San Francisco Bay Area because of it.

The Asiel Design Center, or “the Warehouse,” has been home to Asiel Design since 2003. This antique building is situated in San Jose, California and is the epicenter for all of Asiel Designs’ creations. Whether consulting with clients, producing their infamous floral designs or creating their unique special event elements, the warehouse provides a creative space to not only envision your dreams, but also to turn your dreams into reality. Recently the warehouse has been open as an available wedding venue, for private special events, industry parties and as a raw space for photo shoots.
“I had a vision of making this place into a Willy Wonka type of factory for design. We have so many toys here that we play with in conjunction to design,” says, owner/ designer, Jonathan
It is for this reason owner/designer Linnae prefers to meet her clients here for their initial consultation. Sitting in Linnae’s prohibition themed office and sipping tea or a glass of wine gives their clients a chance to step inside a new world of possibility and really explore all of the available wedding themes or event design ideas they truly desire.
“Typically, our clients will step into our warehouse and the flood gates will open! Being here expands their range of possibility and literally allows them to experience the capabilities of their dreams,” says Linnae
Dating back to the early 1800’s, the Warehouse’s 10,000-square foot space of corrugated steel walls, old red wood beams, and antique grain machinery which is flooded with natural light will maker you feel like you stepped back in time. However, The Warehouse itself is not the only captivating and inspiring element that breeds creativity. The vast inventory of hand-selected antiques and custom design elements amassed and created throughout the years turns any adult into a kid in a candy store.
“As soon as you walk in, you are struck with wonder and excitement at the possibilities. It’s like visiting Santa’s Toy Shop as an adult. You suddenly remember what it was like to dream again,” says Jonathan
“We use The Warehouse as a showcase of our inventory and to give our clients an understanding as to what is possible and how far we are willing to go to bring their dreams into reality,” says Linnae
The Warehouse has helped inspire such wedding theme as the Dark Circus with Aerialists swinging from the ceilings and Sacred heART, which was an unique art show. There really is no other space like this to dream up events.
“We can talk about our events all day long, but you really don’t get what it’s like until you are at one,” says Linnae
Set up your consultation today and visit the Warehouse where Asiel Design creates one of a kind floral designs, builds unique special event elements and hosts some of the most creative and inspiring wedding themes in the San Jose and San Francisco Bay Area.
